With two different blades, you will find it quite useful for a variety of cutting needs. The #56 Bird Dog is large enough for some serious work yet, so easy to carry. This quality made pocket knife has a price making it a great value for your hard earned dollar. Made with pride in Titusville, PA. We are an authorized Great Eastern Cutlery Dealer and purchased this new knife direct from them.
This #56 Bird Dog (Dog Leg Jack) pocket knife has a larger Spear Point blade and a smaller pen blade. Both blades are 1095 steel and have a polished finish. The larger blade has a cutting edge of 2.31" with the Pen blade being 1.5". The "NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD" trade mark logo is etched on the large blade. The larger blade features a swedge grind and a "long pull" nail nick with decorative serrations on the bottom side of the groove. The blades do not have a half stop position.
The Handle Construction:
The handle length is 3.5" and provides a solid four finger hold for most people. A "Pinched" and grooved nickel silver bolster and end cap adorn each end of the handle frame. The handle scales are Sambar Stag and the liners and pins are brass. The handle scale edges are rounded and flush with the outside perimeter making the knife more comfortable to hold.
Since the handle scales are made from Sambar Stag, the handle thickness and knife weight will vary from knife to knife.
