Description
The Great Eastern Cutlery Northfield UN-X-LD #13 Clerk is a traditional Congress style pocket knife which has been around for a long time as its original purpose was to make quill pens. The GEC Northfield #13 Clerk is a small to medium-sized pocket knife featuring two 1095 carbon steel blades making it very useful for a variety of every day cutting needs. It is a great general purpose, gentleman's fine pocket knife. Made with pride in Titusville, PA. We are an authorized Great Eastern Cutlery dealer and purchased this new knife direct from them.
The Blade(s):
The Northfield #13 Clerk features a Wharncliffe main blade with the "NORTHFIELD UN-X-LD" logo etched on it and one pen secondary blade. The Wharncliffe blade has a cutting edge of 2.625" and a long nail nick for opening. The pen blade has cutting edge of 1.596" and a nail nick for opening. Both blades have a polished finish and feature a solid half stop.
The Handle Construction:
The handle is long enough for a solid four finger hold for most people. The handle scales are Sambar Stag and the attaching pins and liners are brass. The three groove bolsters are polished nickel silver giving the knife a classy look. There is a cut-out for accessing the nail nick on the pen blade. The curve of the handle profile allows the knife to position naturally in the hand when in use. The handle scale edges are rounded and flush with the outside perimeter making the knife pleasant to hold. The fit and finish are excellent and the blade action is crisp when opening and closing.
