Description
The Great Eastern Cutlery Tidioute #13 Whittler is a traditional Congress style pocket knife which has been around for some time as its original purpose was to make quill pens. The GEC Tidioute #13 Whittler is a smaller-sized pocket knife featuring three 1095 carbon steel blades making it very useful for a variety of every day tasks. It makes a great general purpose, gentleman's fine pocket knife. Made with pride in Titusville, PA. We are an authorized Great Eastern Cutlery Dealer and purchased this new knife direct from them.
The Blade(s):
The #13 Whittler features a Sheepfoot main blade and two pen secondary blades. The Sheepfoot blade has a cutting edge of 2.125" and a nail nick for opening. The two pen blades have cutting edges of 1.5" and nail nicks for opening. All three blades have a satin finish. The pen blades have a pronounced half stop and the Sheepfoot blade does not.
The Handle Construction:
The handle is long enough for a solid four finger hold for most people. The handle scales are Muslin Micarta and the attaching pins and liners are brass. The bolsters and inlay shield are brushed nickel silver giving the knife a classy look. The handle tapers from the Sheepfoot blade pivot end making the knife easier to hold and use. The curve of the handle profile allows the knife to position naturally in the hand when in use. The handle scale edges are rounded and flush with the outside perimeter making the knife pleasant to hold. The fit and finish are excellent and the blade action is crisp when opening and closing.
