Description

The LionSteel TiSpine is a joint effort with Robert Young Pelton. Robert Pelton is a journalist, adventurist, author and owner of DPx Gear. DPx Gear offers several models of knives that are also manufactured by LionSteel in Maniago, Italy. The LionSteel TiSpine was designed by Robert Pelton who worked with Gianni Pauletta, the owner of LionSteel, to produce the knife.

The TiSpine is the second monolithic frame lock knife produced by LionSteel. The first one was the SR-1. A monolithic knife frame/handle has been milled from a single piece of material which in this case is titanium. This process is quite costly but the final product is a stunning knife that is very attractive yet incredibly strong. Other frames/handles of folding knives have two halves of material that are held together with screws.

The comfortably shaped TiSpine handle is 4.375 inches long, providing a full four finger grip. The ribbed texture provides for a secure grip under a variety of conditions. The pocket clip is positioned over the locking bar so it moves down when the blade is opened allowing it to be less intrusive during use. The pocket clip cannot be moved to the other side of the knife.

The blade on this TiSpine is 3 5/16" (8.41 cm) long and is made of premium Damascus steel with the FATE pattern.

The blade's profile is a slim, modified drop point and it is 9/64" (3.57 mm) thick. The spine has a swedge that results in a narrow tip for efficient penetrating cuts. Thumb grooves provide for better blade control and more secure traction when downward pressure is applied.

The LionSteel TiSpine is an excellent example of a high quality, precision made gentleman's pocket knife.

The TiSpine ships in a plexiglass tube with friction fit end-caps.

About LionSteel Knives

LionSteel Knives was established in 1969 in Maniago, Italy by Gino Pauletta and his wife Cesarina. Today, LionSteel Knives operates under the direction of Gianni, Daniele and Massimo Pauletta, who are the sons of Gino and Cesarina.

The Pauletta family takes their knife making business very seriously and has invested significant time and resources in LionSteel Knives. To the best of our knowledge, the Lion Steel SR-1 knife is the first commercially produced folding knife with a monolithic titanium handle! This means that the handle frame is machined from a solid billet of titanium! This process is quite costly but the final product is a stunning knife that is very attractive yet incredibly strong. The Lionsteel SR-1 knife was awarded the coveted "Most Innovative Imported Design" at the 2010 Blade Show in Atlanta, GA.

The philosophy of the LionSteel knife company is to produce knives of distinction using the highest quality materials available, the finest machining techniques known and world class quality control.
