Description

There are many opinions, favorite qualities, and small nuances of bushcraft knives. The new Bushcrafter HC from LTWright Knives hits on some big ones. We created this knife thinking about performance, value, and field service. At the heart of this knife is a piece of 3/32 inch high carbon 1075 steel. This is a steel you can sharpen easily in the field, will strike with a flint and light char cloth, and comes with our own 2 step patina to reduce rusting issues. The design is the same as Tim Stetzer originally envisioned it though with its spear point, single finger groove, and barrel shaped handle. These features all help in using this knife in a multitude of grips and still be comfortable. And with a round butt and spear point, this will help in making a fire board or any other task in which you need to do some drilling.

The Bushcrafter HC has an overall length of 8 1/4 inches, and a cutting edge of 3 5/8 inches. This is plenty for 90% of the tasks you'll probably need it to do in the field. You want your bush knife to be comfortable right? That's why the very round handle and smooth finger groove are so important. There is also a slight tapering of the scales toward the front to help in choking up a bit on it for fine work. Holding those Micarta scales in place you'll find fisheye hardware, marine grade epoxy, and an alloy lined lanyard tube. The epoxy alone is probably enough to hold the scales in place, this is some really tough stuff! It will also seal the scales to the steel eliminating another potential area for rust to form. We also wanted a slightly lighter knife for toting around in the bush and the 3/32 inch stock, small fisheyes, and alloy instead of brass lanyard tube help with that.

Let's talk value. The hows and whys of it are, we wanted to have a price point of around $100 with a sheath. We trimmed the weight (an added expense), streamlined the manufacturing process in-house, and will offer this knife, with a sheath, for just over $100. That's a hand made in the USA knife, exceptional heat treat by Peter's in Meadville, PA, a lifetime guarantee, and a proven design all for just over $100. That's value folks! The included sheath is a hand made JRE leather sheath with a dangler set up and fire steel loop (the dangler is removable for "high ride carry"). The sheath is double sewn with eyelets for adding more attachments if needed.

The new Bushcrafter HC, a great tool for your next adventure without breaking the bank. Hand made right here in Ohio by skilled American craftsmen.
