Instructions for Using Your Diamond Benchstone Sharpener
Step 1: Choose the appropriate stone for your blade’s edge.
- Medium: To maintain an already sharp edge
- Fine to Ultra Fine: To hone or polish a finished edge
Step 2: Place the stone on a stable, flat surface.
Note: Avoid using any lubrication on the Diamond Stone surface.
Step 3: Observe the bevel angle of the blade you want to sharpen. Align the edge with the stone, matching your sharpening angle to the bevel angle.
Step 4: With light pressure, slide the blade across the stone in one smooth motion, as if slicing a thin layer from the surface. Maintaining a consistent angle is key for optimal results.
Step 5: Repeat this process 3-4 times on one side of the blade, then switch to the other side and repeat.
Step 6: Continue this process until the edge is sharp.
Step 7: Clean your stones with a damp cloth after each use and store in a cool, dry place.
Suggestions
- For best results, use a progression of stones: Medium → Fine → Ultra Fine.
- Start with 3-4 strokes per side, repeating this 3-4 times.
- Then do 2 strokes per side, repeating 2-3 times.
- Next, perform 1 stroke per side, repeating 1-2 times.
- Finally, move on to a finer stone.
