A Look At Some Of Our Favorite Hunting Knives For Sale

Oct 10 2020 - 7:31

If you are hunting without a good knife by your side, you’re missing out. A reliable hunting knife should only be second to your weapon when you are packing for your next trip. If you have been looking to find a great new knife for your next hunting trip, we have a wide selection of hunting knives for sale in our online store. Today we will be looking at a few of our favorite knife options for hunting.

Like most knife categories, there are not strict rules for what makes the ideal hunting knife. One thing that most hunters can agree on is the fact that a fixed blade knife will always be the most reliable option. Folding pocket knives can perform a wide range of tasks, but they just can’t work as hard as a fixed blade knife. Having a blade and handle that are constructed from a solid piece of metal will ensure that your knife can tackle any job that you throw at it. The rest of the factors to consider are mostly going to come down to personal preference, but it is also important to think about the kind of tasks that your knife will be performing.

Different blade sizes, profiles, and point designs will all handle different jobs a little differently. For this reason, our selection of hunting knives for sale includes a diverse range of options so users can find the perfect knives to fit their needs. Game size is going to be a big factor when it comes to choosing a hunting knife. If you are going to be breaking down a deer in the field, you’ll thank yourself for bringing a big knife along with you. On the other hand if you are hunting smaller animals, that same knife is going to make the process of cleaning your game into a real pain. A smaller blade will offer exceptional control for jobs like skinning while a bigger blade will have more power behind it for tough jobs like dressing a large animal. Like most things in life, a knife that is an average of these two extremes will offer hunters the most versatility.

Another hotly contested aspect of choosing the right knife is the type of point that it features. When most folks who don’t hunt imagine the quintessential hunting knife, they are probably going to picture a big beefy bowie knife strapped to a belt. While some hunters might like the classic feel for a large clip point blade and the precision that the fine clip point tip offers, others might find these blades cumbersome and their tips too delicate.

The majority of our hunting knives for sale will feature either a drop point or a spear point. These two designs combine versatility and strength, making them a great option for users who need a hunting knife that can also perform a wide variety of survival and bushcraft tasks. If you are planning on camping during your next hunting trip, having a knife that can perform chores like batoning firewood can be a big help.

The Hunting Knives section of our store contains a long list of knives to choose from and we would like to take a few minutes to let you know about a few of our favorites. These options are just a snapshot of the number of knives we offer, so be sure to check out the full selection in the “Hunting Knives” section of our store. To get things started, we’ll tell you a little about our exclusive Architect Knives.

The Architect Field Buddy - It’s hard for us to make a list of great hunting knives without including our Field Buddy. We have to admit a little bias because this knife is more than just one of our recommended options, it is the direct result of our passion for great outdoor knives. Over 10 years ago Dale, one of the founders here at The Knife Connection, started to dream up what would go into making his perfect outdoor knife. The Architect Field Buddy is the result of that dream and we are proud to say that these knives are serious workhorses in the field.

Constructed with 1095 carbon steel, these blades take an edge easily and hold it well. The sturdy G10 handles offer an ergonomic grip and come in a variety of color options. You can also choose between the Field Buddy 5.5 and 6.5 depending on the blade length that you prefer. No matter which choice you make, we know that you will love the balance between these knives' strong spines, ample bellies, and their sharp cutting points. ESEE 6 - If you have never owned an ESEE Knife, you are missing out. These knives are built to perform and come with a no questions asked lifetime warranty. The ESEE 6 has a 5.75” cutting edge on its drop point 1095 steel blade. This knife is easily one of the most perfect balanced options offered by ESEE and is ideal for a wide range of cutting and slicing tasks.

This knife is perfect for cleaning game or fish and completing jobs around your campsite. You can choke up on the blade using the finger choil and thumb jimping in order to perform delicate tasks. You can also grab it firmly by the handle to baton firewood and complete other harder jobs. If you are going after big game and you need a great knife by your side, you cannot go wrong with the ESEE 6

ESEE 3 - We know that a large knife is not going to be suited for all users, and the ESEE 3 is a more compact knife option for hunters. These knives were designed with law enforcement and special forces in mind, but they are a great choice for hunters. The blade features a 3 ⅜” cutting edge yet the textured G10 handle scales still permit a secure four finger grip for those with large hands. This makes these knives suitable for preparing both small and large game alike.

The blades on these knives are constructed from S35VN stainless steel. This strong steel resists corrosion in the field and holds its edge incredibly well. The drop point on the blade combined with the thumb jimping on the spine make the ESEE 3 extremely easy to control.

Ashley Game Knife - Another great knife from ESEE Knives, the Ashley Game Knife or AGK was designed with hunters in mind. Designed by renowned hunter Ashley Emerson, these knives are designed to be the ideal choice for preparing game in the field. The blade is constructed from sturdy 1095 carbon steel and features a smoothly curved belly terminating at a sharp drop point.

The handle on these knives feature nicely textured micarta scales designed to be easy to grip even if the knife is wet. There is a small guard protecting the hand from the belly of the knife and the handle is designed to line up with the point of the blade to help guide cuts more easily.

Camp-Lore JG5 - For fans of Nessmuk style blades, the JG5 is an amazing choice. The large, curved belly of these knives make them perfect for slicing and skinning. The JG5 has a 1095 blade with a 4.875” cutting edge that features a rugged black tumbled oxide finish. Combined with the scalloped micarta handles, these knives look as incredible as they perform.

Don’t let the shape of these knives fool you, that curved belly and spine can handle a wide range of outdoor tasks beyond preparing game. Nessmuk blades are not traditionally built for stabbing tasks, but the JG5’s point is sharp and strong thanks to the curvature of the upper spine. These knives are an all around pleasure to use and reflect a design that is truly an American classic.

TOPS Tex Creek Hunter - Tex Creek is a beautiful hunting ground not far from the TOPS Knives manufacturing facility. The team at TOPS Knives created this knife in honor of that picturesque piece of land and the people who hunt on it. These knives were tested in Tex Creek by members of the TOPS team and tweaked until they created this amazing knife.

The Tex Creek Hunter features a 4.19” 1095 steel blade with a .19” spine. When you hold one of these knives you can just tell that it was built to be a workhorse. The handle is extremely comfortable and has comfortable thumb grip cutouts, making it easily to work for long periods of time. Combined with a gorgeous leather sheath, these knives are always ready for your next camping or hunting trip.

LT Wright Genesis - LT Wright is all about designing gorgeous yet practical knives and the Genesis is a great example of that ethos in effect. The Genesis is one of their best selling models for a good reason. These spear pointed knives are designed with a 4.25” A2 tool steel blade and feature comfortable micarta or wooden handle scales with thumb scallops to provide a secure grip.

Every LT Wright knife is truly a handmade work of art. Each blade is designed and reviewed by knife enthusiasts to ensure that they offer peak performance. The scandi grind on the Genesis makes these knives incredibly strong while the gentle slope of the belly and sharp tip make them perfect for a wide range of tasks both on your favorite hunting grounds or your campsite.

LT Wright GP Medium - They say that great things come in small packages, and the GP Medium is evidence of that fact. These stout knives are great for hunters for skinning small to large animals because they are easy to control and offer a wide slicing belly. The blade is made from high performance AEB-L stainless steel, a tough Swedish razor steel alloy that holds an edge incredibly well.

Compared to the blade, the handle of these knives are obviously pretty large. The size and shape of the handle scales make the GP Medium easy to hold and control. The leather pouch style sheath that comes with these knives holds them securely and makes these knives a great EDC or work knife option in addition to being an amazing hunting knife.

LT Wright Camp MUK - As we touched on earlier with the JG5, there is something undeniably satisfying about hunting with a Nessmuk style knife. The LT Wright Camp Muk is an attractive example of this classic survival knife style that was built to slice. The A2 tool steel flat ground blade is strong and perfectly suited for skinning while the smooth handles are comfortable enough for extended use.

These knives are a fairly compact option at 7.5” overall with a blade length of 3.625”. This size makes these blades well suited for all kinds of outdoor tasks from skinning a deer to making a fuzz stick and lighting it with your firesteel. They are also an excellent choice for preparing meals at your campsite. If you are looking for an attractive knife that can really work hard, the Camp Muk is the knife for you.
