The maker at Darlington Edgecraft, Carley Perkins, is the newest apprentice at Fiddleback Forge, and yet, her grinds look like she's been grinding for months, and now she's tapering tangs too!!  

Andy points out that a newbie maker should not be able to do competent upswept blades.  In fact, someone with Carley's experience should still be figuring out how to finish a knife with a tip at all.  She is a savant.
