Looking at Our Selection of LT Wright Knives

Mar 9 2021 - 8:31

We carry a lot of knives from a lot of different knife makers and manufacturers, but certain knives stand out. We’re not trying to play favorites, but it is hard not to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into the LT Wright Knives that we offer. We have been offering handcrafted Knives from LT Wright for years now and we are always happy to introduce our customers to this great knifemaker and his team.

A Little Background

If you had not already assumed, LT Wright Knives was founded by a man named LT Wright. Before he started making knives for a living, LT made his first knife using a simple knife making kit as a gift for his father. Shortly after he made this first knife, his father came back to him with more orders from his friends. Without even trying, LT had found customers who wanted his knives.

Eventually LT started making more and more knives to hone his craft. He started going to knife shows and connecting with other knife makers in his area. He bought a professional grinder from RW Wilson, an American knife maker famous for his tomahawks. RW took LT under his wing and showed him the fine points of knifemaking. This led to LT quitting his day job to focus on making knives full time. By selling his knives and investing the profit in better equipment, LT has put together a large enough shop to hire and train more people in the craft of knife making. Now LT Wright and the rest of his team in Ohio are dedicated to producing the highest quality handcrafted knives.

Craftsmanship

When it comes to knife making, the process is everything. You can put an edge on almost any piece of steel and call it a knife, but high quality knife making is an involved process. Over the years, LT has perfected his knife making techniques and he now passes that knowledge on to the other knifemakers on his team. All LT Wright handcrafted knives go through strict quality control standards so only the best knives end up leaving their shop.

Looking at Steel

One of the most important factors when it comes to making a quality knife is the steel that is used to make the blade. Different steels have different properties and the team at LT Wright are focused on making sure that each knife they produce is constructed from high quality steel that compliments their design.

Many knifemakers will stick to using high carbon steel for their knives, but the team at LT Wright use a wide range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and various types of tool steel. If you have any particular knife steel preferences, you can use our convenient filters to see which models we have available in the type of steel you prefer.

Handle Materials

On top of taking the time to select the perfect blade material, the team at LT Wright Knives are also meticulous about finding the right handle scales for their knives. They use two different handle materials, gorgeous hardwoods and composite materials like micarta. All of their handle scales are expertly shaped to offer a secure and comfortable grip so you can work with these knives all day.

The Pout House

Part of what makes LT Wright Knives so great is the fact that it has a community known as the Pout House that provides input on new knife designs. Fans of LT Wright can join this exclusive online forum that gets sneak peaks at new knives and the ability to provide valuable input on new knives. Members of this club also get discounts, chances to win free knives, and other great benefits from LT and the rest of the team.
