The original Genesis by L.T. Wright is the knife that launched L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives as a company. It was inspired by the design of the knife carried by Horace Kephart, widely regarded as the father of American Woodcraft. This Kephart-style knife has been offered in 4", 6", and 6.5" blade lengths, and now the Gen 5 joins the collection with a 5-inch blade—perfectly sized for many users.
The versatile spear point blade is a bushcraft classic, well-suited for a wide range of tasks, including woodcarving, skinning, and drilling. Expert sharpeners meticulously finish each cutting edge, while the spine features a sharp, 90-degree angle for scraping and striking a firesteel. The Flat grind is ideal for utility and a variety of other cutting chores.
The Gen 5’s handle is expertly shaped by hand to ensure comfort and prevent hot spots, offering hours of ease during tough tasks. With its "broomstick" style, the handle fits comfortably in most hands. Thumb scallops further enhance performance, providing a natural grip for pinch holds. The scales are securely attached to the tang with Corby bolts and high-strength epoxy, ensuring durability for a lifetime of use.
To complement the knife, the included JRE Industries leather sheath offers convenient carry options. It has excellent retention, and a ¾" leather loop on the side is designed to hold a firesteel. Additional rivets on the sheath allow for versatile lashing options, and it can be worn with the dangler attachment for a drop-leg carry, or without it for a “high ride” carry by simply folding it underneath.
