Highlighting Some of the Lishen Knives We Carry

Jun 18 2026 - 1:53

We’re just coming back from the BLADE Show, which was held in Atlanta from June 5th through the 7th at the Cobb Convention Center. We got to meet some great people and partners in the industry and it was a great time synching with our suppliers.

Following our visit to the BLADE Show we wanted to shed some light on some new Lishen Knives that we now carry (or which are coming soon to our website). Here are three of the best of them.

The Mini Northern Scalpel

The Mini Northern Scalpel is a great little knife that could be excellent as a hunter or fisherman’s companion, as it is well designed for streamside cleaning of trout, gutting upland birds and other small game, and more. A knife of this profile would also be a great tool for breaking down much larger harvests, too; don’t let its diminutive stature fool you

The Mini Northern Scalpel sports a 1.75”, Scandi-ground, scalpel-profiled blade (hence the name) and a super-adequate canvas Micarta handle. It’s more than 6 inches overall, so despite the small blade, there’s plenty of purchase for your hands.

AEB-L is a great tool steel with a middle of the road carbon content and plenty of chromium. At around .67% carbon, AEB-L can take and hold a very sharp edge without being too brittle, and thanks to its high chromium content, for a tool steel, it’s relatively corrosion resistant, a great thing for a knife you’d want to use for hunting or fishing.

It also has a fine grain structure with well distributed carbides, which aids in its ability to take and hold an edge.

The skinny handle of the Mini Northern Scalpel handles (no pun intended) well in a variety of grips, including with the edge inverted, which is great for when this knife is used as a skinner. There’s also a mild choil at the front of the handle, which aids in indexing and grip, too.

It also comes with a rugged leather sheath that offers a lot of class and which is comfortable to carry.

The Little Fowl

Looking for something a little larger? The Little Fowl is a do-all Lishen Knife that can fill a lot of roles outdoors.

With a 2.8, Scandi-ground AEB-L blade, the Little Fowl is similar in many ways to the Mini Northern Scalpel, except in size. The longer blade is better for rougher bushcraft tasks like carving feathersticks and working wood, and it’s just as well adapted to cleaning harvests.

For heavier tasks, the more adequate, thicker handle and contours of the Little Fowl will serve better, whether you’re carving notches on a try stick, making a pot holder, whittling stakes, or splitting small rounds of firewood because you forgot your hatchet.

Also like the Mini Northern Scalpel, the Little Fowl sports Micarta scales that are comfortable in the hand. They’re available here in a few different colors, and they’re larger and fuller than those of the former entry, which makes the Little Fowl a little more ergonomic when performing rougher work, as indicated.

Also like the Mini Northern Scalpel, the Little Fowl comes with a leather sheath that is classy, comfortable to wear, and which offers a reasonably good friction fit out of the gate.

The Dakota

dakota

That’s not an LT Wright knife; that Dakota pictured above is a gem from Lishen Knives, but very similar to some patterns made by the former brand.

Like many LT Wright knives, it sports a Scandi grind, which is both robust and relatively easy to resharpen with a flat stone thanks to the angle, that’s easy to follow; just lay the bevel flat against the stone and you’re good to go.

The virtues of the AEB-L steel from which it’s made have already been covered here. It’s tough, takes and holds an edge, and is relatively corrosion resistant.

It’s also one of the bigger Lishen Knives we carry here, with a 3.75 inch straight back blade, and almost 9 inches overall. A rounded handle with a bit of a pommel swell makes it comfortable in the hand and improves indexing and comfort in a variety of grips.

All in all, it is a great bushcraft knife that would excel at a variety of tasks from firecraft to making camp furniture to cleaning and processing harvests and even camp food prep.

Like the other Lishen Knives covered here, it also comes with a classic leather sheath that is both comfortable and practical.
